San Diego Has 5 of the Top-50 Money Earning American Athletes from Last Year

Sports Illustrated just released a “Fortunate 50” list that includes the top-50 money earning American athletes from the past year. Check out the locals that were part of the list:

Golfer Phil Mickelson (number 2)
Baseball player Adrian Gonzalez (number 25)
NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson (number 33)
Baseball player Barry Zito (number 36)
Football player Arian Foster (number 39)

Phil Mickelson tops the list for San Diegans and he could soon be part owner of the San Diego Padres. Adrian Gonzalez was a former member of the Padres, but he would not be part of this list if he stayed playing here in San Diego. The owners of the Red Sox have a lot more money to fling around.
