National Signing Day Bizarre Stories and Top News

On a day where college football fans around the country are glued to their TVs, their computer screens, and their smart phones, some unusual stories took place.

For starters, Alex Collins, a four-star running back from Plantation, FLA, had to put his official announcement on hold. With offers on the table from Miami, Florida, Florida State, and Wisconsin, Collins verbally committed to Arkansas. But when it came time to make the official decision, his letter of intent was missing. Rumor has it that his mother took the papers. Why? Reports have said that his family don’t want him to be too far away from Florida. Collins is still expected to choose Arkansas, but we’ll see.

Another strange story involves Calvin Klein and SMU. What would these two ever have in common? Myles Crosby. Crosby, a two-star safety and apparently

the 11th ranked male model, made the decision to turn down Calvin Klein and chose to sign a letter of intent with SMU.

Last but surely not least on the list of weird stories making news from the day has to do with a coach look alike. The #1 linebacker in the country, Reuben Foster, was all set to sign his letter of intent with Alabama today. But instead of the tough five-star linebacker showing up to sign, it was Nick Saban. No, not literally. Foster, a name that college fans will soon be aquainted with, came into his announcement wearing a straw Alabama logoed hat and an Alabama vest.

Now on to some more meaningful news.

Ole Miss came out with quite possibly their best draft class ever. Topping their list was the #1 player in the country, DE Robert Nkemdiche. They also landed the #1 WR Laquon Treadwell and the #1 OT Laremy Tunsil. Altogether, Ole Miss pulled in twenty-seven recruits: three five-stars, nine four-stars, and fourteen three-stars.

Tashawn Bower, who had originally said he was going to Auburn, used Twitter to smash any rumors about Auburn or Florida and then eventually ended up picking LSU.

Torrodney Prevot shocked USC and Texas A&M when he ultimately picked the Oregon Ducks.

Lastly, three-star ATH Tre’Vell Dixon changed his mind not once, not twice, but three times. Originally he had committed to Nebraska. He first changed his mind just after that and then went back to that committment after visiting Nebraska in January. Then Tuesday rolled around and there were reports that he was choosing Arizona State. Then there were talks about him going to Houston. Finally on National Signing Day, Dixon went back to where it all started and chose Nebraska.
