The San Diego Padres are gearing up for spring training just like every other team in the MLB. Pitchers and catchers are set to report to camp in less than a week. With that being said, the Padres decided today to help out their bullpen. Today, the Padres decided to claim RHP Fautino de los Santos off of waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers.

De Los Santons got his career started in the Chicago White Sox organization as an undrafted free agent in 2005. He pitched for their minor league system until he was traded in 2008 along with Gio Gonzalez and Ryan Sweeney to the Oakland A’s in exchange for Nick Swisher. He appeared in 34 games with the A’s with most of his action coming in 2011.

In July of 2012, he was traded from the A’s to the Brewers in exchange for catcher George Kottaras and spent all of the season in the minors within the Brewer’s organization.

He made his MLB debut on June 4th, 2011 with the A’s and has a career record of 3-2 with a 4.21 ERA.

In other news, the Padres designated Jeudy Valdez for assignment today. Valdez hit .225 with 12 home runs in 2012 with Double-A San Antonio. He also hit .303 in 18 games in the Arizona Fall League.
