Yasmani Grandal’s second apology

San Diego Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal appologized yesterday for the second time concerning his suspension for PED’s. Within his apology, he never answered any questions concerning his alleged involvement on the clinical lists that were released not too long ago. He did, however, assume full responsibility for his actions.

"I have taken full responsibility for my actions and apologized to my teammates, the fans and the San Diego Padres organization. – Yasmani Grandal, Catcher, San Diego Padres"

He read his previously prepared statement in around two minutes. He said that he intended to cooporate fully with the on-going investigation from the MLB into Biogenesis but that, after being advised by legal counsel, could not answer any further questions on the matter. Grandal hoped that his teammates accepted his short appology as he hopes to move on from this debacle. One teammate, outfielder Cameron Maybin, told ESPN that he had a lot of respect for Grandal for “manning up”. Padres Manager Bud Black also seemed to appreciate the appology by saying that, “It was part of what he needs to do.”

Grandal will be allowed to participate in Spring Training but he’s suspended for the first 50 games of the season. Fans and teammates are hoping that he’ll use that time to think about the negative implications that this has had on his career and focus on moving forward.
