Sorry for the late post on this folks.  It is that time of year again, fantasy football, real football (in mere minutes) and the Chargers slipped in a special fan forum with one of our favorite Chargers ever, Eric Weddle.

These live fan forums are just another perk of being a season ticket holder for the Bolts.  A couple of months ago we got to talk to Tom Telesco, today it was Eric Weddle.  The way it works is that you get an email letting you know the date and time and then the Chargers call your phone.  You say your name and get put into a queue.  While you wait you get to hear what others are asking, which is pretty cool.  The session only ended up being about 20ish minutes, so here it is, minus some random bla bla.

Q:  What are you going to do that you think is different and is going to motivate them (teammates) to hopefully get some wins and maybe a championship?

A:   Provide the necessary leadership and the insight the info that has helped me get where I’m at in my 7 seasons.  You know, to share that with the guys in my position group.  Hopefully, they take that and they learn from it and have an understanding so that when I’m gone they have learned something… this is my secondary now.

Q:  What are some of the changes that Mike McCoy has made as the Head Coach that is different from Norv Turner?

A:  He provides his own flavor.  It’s all about the little things and doing things right.  Doing the right thing on and off the field.  The situational football has been amazing.  We practice different situations so that we will not get flustered during a game, so that when something happens in a game you know what to do.  Doing the little things right.

Q:  Given your skill set and knowledge of the game can you describe the new corners and what do you believe their skill set is?

A:  DC is a long physical fast guy and can really make plays on the ball easily.  He has grown a lot since OTA’s.  Shareece is as talented as they come, biggest thing with him is his consistency, I expect big things from him.

Q:  Arian Foster, how do you expect to stop him on Monday?

A:  It’s a team effort, we need to not over persue, and not get cutoff on the back side.  I’m looking forward to it and it’s going to be a great challenge.

Q:  What would you be doing if football was not in the picture?

A:  I would be a special education teacher, that is what I got my degree in and I love working with kids.  They are the future.  I plan on doing that someday when I’m done with football.

Q:  What are your memories of LT as a player?

A:  He really went out of his way to talk to me when I was a rookie.  It meant a lot to me.  He was an amazing football player who always critiqued himself and I always try to do that since I learned it from him.

Q:  Any particular team that gets you more motivated than other teams?

A:  I treat every game like it’s the most meaningful.  Obviously for the city the Raider game because it is so packed and the feuds and the fighting and the passion that goes into it, it’s like a college rivalry.  And then always playing the Patriots, I hate the Patriots, because we’ve had our battles and our ups and downs against them.

Q:  If the entire defense was to run a 100 yard race, who would come in first and who would come in last?

A:  Starting defense, I think Derek would come in first, me second and last would probably be Cam Thomas, baby Zilla.

There were a few more questions, but I missed them in the beginning and while I was in transport.  Basically, as cool and nice a guy as I expected him to be, definitely staying classy San Diego style.

You know, I only kind of hated the Patriots, but after watching LT’s Football Life on NFL Network, now I really hate them. You don’t mess with LT, and they were disrespectful in our house!
