San Diego State ranked No. 20 in latest Top 25 poll’s

San Diego State Aztecs moved up to No. 20 in both the AP and Coaches Top 25 poll’s this week, after their dominating 65-36 home victory over McNeese State Saturday night.

The Aztecs (9-1) struggled early Saturday night against the Cowboys leading only 21-18 at the half.

The game remained close until midway through the 2nd half when with the Aztecs trailing 25-23, Aqeel Quinn hit a 3-pointer to start a 13-0 run that gave the Aztecs the lead for good. Winston Shepard who returned from his one-game suspension earlier in the week scored seven straight points of his team leading 14 points during the Aztecs 13-0 run.

The Aztecs were ranked No. 24 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll and
No. 23 in the Coaches Top 25 poll last week.

The Aztecs return to the court Friday night at home against NAIA University St. Katharine’s.

This weeks game will be the last “easy game” for the Aztecs as they begin Mountain-West Conference play next Wednesday on New-Years day at (7-4) Colorado State and then the Aztecs have their last non-conference game of the season against No. 16 Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse.
