San Diego State ranked No. 19 & 21 in latest Top 25 poll’s

San Diego State Aztecs moved up to No. 19 in both the Coaches Top 25 poll and fell to No. 21 this week, after their record dominating win Friday night 118-35 at home over St.Kathrine’s University.

The Aztecs set a new program record for largest margin of victory of 83 points blowing out the Firebirds 118-35. The Aztecs 118 points were the fifth most in program history and 10th most in a Division one game this season. The Aztecs also became the first division one team since 2000 to hold three straight opponents to less than 40 points.

The Aztecs dominated the game from the start outscoring the Firebirds 13-0 to start the game.

The Aztecs would continue to dominate throughout the first half as they lead the St. Katharine Firebirds 63-17 at the half.

For the sake of moral victory the fact the Firebirds a NAIA school scored 17 points, six more than Southern Utah….a division one team did last week in the first half against the Aztecs is a testament to the Firebirds heart and effort.

The Aztecs would continue to dominate in the 2nd half as they outscored the Firebirds 55-18 on their way to a 118-35 victory.

Winston Shepard lead the Aztecs in scorning with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Dwayne Pollee II was second in scoring with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

The Aztecs were ranked No. 20 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll and
No. 20 in the Coaches Top 25 poll last week.

The Aztecs return to the court next week as they begin Mountain-West Conference play on Wednesday on New-Years day at (7-4) Colorado State and then the Aztecs have their last non-conference game of the season against No. 16 Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse.

Wednesdays game at Colorado State will anything but easy for the Aztecs, as they explained at there weekly Monday press conference to GoAztecs.com.
