San Diego,CA- The
San Diego State Aztecs cracked the Top ten in the Associated Press Top 25 poll as they improved to No. 10 and No. 11 in the Coaches Top 25 poll this week.

San Diego State passed Ohio State, Baylor and Louisville to join the Top Ten this week.

It’s San Diego States highest ranking in the AP poll 2010-11 season, when the Aztecs were ranked No. 6 entering the NCAA Tournament. The Aztecs also had their highest ranking in school history that season, as the Aztecs were ranked No. 4 in the nation at one point during the 34-3 season. In program history the Aztecs are 22-3 all-time as a Top 10 team.

The Aztecs also continue to be the highest ranked team on the west coast, with the only other west coast team ranked in the Top 25 poll’s is UCLA, which is 25th in both.

The Aztecs defeated Boise State Wednesday at home 69-66 and Air Force on the road yesterday 79-72.

For the San Diego State Aztecs it was their first win at Clune Arena since 2011. The Aztecs at had previously lost their last two games at Clune Arena the past two years,  a 7 0-67 loss last season and a 58-56 loss  in 2012. The Aztecs were ranked in both losses.

Those two losses were a big factor in the Aztecs focus coming into yesterdays game according to the Associated Press.

"“We came in more focused. With the last couple of years maybe we had expectations to win and win big and we came in (today) knowing it was going to be a good game,” O’Brien said. “It is not easy to win here. We were just really tough tonight.”“Air Force popped us twice in a row (at Clune) so it was nice to come in here and sneak out a victory,” SDSU coach Steve Fisher said. “For whatever reason, this has been a hard place for us.”"

The Aztecs with the win improve to (14-1) on the season and will head back home to take on conference rival Fresno State on Wednesday night at 7pm and UNLV on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The Aztecs were ranked No. 13 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll and No. 15 in the Coaches Top 25 poll last week.
