San Diego, CA- San Diego Chargers General Manager Tom Telesco at the NFL Combine’s Media Day expressed his thoughts on this years prospects, the teams needs this off-season and the teams impending free-agents.

On the status of Veteran center Nick Hardwick heading into next season,

"“We’re expecting him to play until told otherwise.”"

Telesco praised Chargers slot-receiver Eddie Royal, but also stated…

"” We’ve got a decision to make on a number of guys.”"

The Chargers could save $4.5 million off their salary cap if Royal released.

On the future of young tight-end Ladarius Green,

"He still has room to grow but he definitely gives us a chance to make big plays down the field."

On the Chargers chances of appearing on Hard Knocks in 2014,

"“We’re not even eligible for it”"

Telesco says it’s becoming easier to project 3-4 NFL outside linebackers. More colleges are running the scheme.

Later on in the day in a more in depth interview with NBC-7’s Derek Togerson, Telsco explained how while the combine is important, the Chargers take other factors in consideration as well.

"“The Combine is important, but I will say it’s only a piece of the puzzle,” says Chargers general manager Tom Telesco. “It’s not the end-all, be-all. For us it’s very important how they played in the fall as a college football player. That’s a big part of the evaluation process.“The background and work we get from the schools is very important. And then, the Combine is that other piece of the puzzle where we get to sit down with kids in interviews.”"

The Combine begins Saturday morning, with the Tight Ends, Offensive Linemen and Special Teams players.
