Ty France ties a School Record for doubles in a game as the San Diego State Aztecs defeat West Virginia 7-3

San Diego, CA- The San Diego State Aztecs defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers 7-3 to win the three game series.

The Aztecs scored the games first run in the bottom of the first on a RBI double by Ty France to give the Aztecs a 1-0 lead. The Aztecs increased their lead to 3-0 in the second on a fielding error by the Mountaineers, as they dropped a Ryan Muno fly-out to right allowing two runs to score.  Steven Pallares extended the Aztecs lead to 4-0 in the third on an RBI ground-out.

The Aztecs added a couple of insurance runs in the seventh on a two run double by France to extend the Aztecs lead to 6-2. The Aztecs would add an additional run in the 8th to defeat the Mountaineers 7-3. 

On the mound, Seyler got through the first three frames with little problem before he was touched up for a pair for runs in the top of the fourth on a double and three singles. Over the next three innings, however, he surrendered only two hits and retired the final seven hitters he faced in the fifth through seventh.

Aztecs starter Mark Seyler picked up his second win of the season to improve to (2-0) and was solid on the mound for the Aztecs allowing two runs on seven hits with a walk and seven strikeouts in seven innings of work. Aztecs flame-thrower Michael Cederoth has been moved to the bullpen, recorded his first career save tonight.

Ty France lead the Aztecs on offense, going 3-3 with three doubles and three RBI’s. France’s three doubles tied the school record for most doubles in one game.
