Aztecs at St. Mary’s Game Postponed

San Diego, CA- Last nights baseball game between the San Diego State Aztecs and the St. Mary Gales was postponed due to rain.

The Aztecs and Gaels will play game two of the three game series on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

The Aztecs and Gaels will play a double header on Saturday to make up for Fridays postponed game.

The Aztecs are currently 6-2 on the season, their best start since 1997 when the Aztecs started the season 14-2.

The Aztecs improved to (6-2) Tuesday night as the Aztecs won their third straight coming back from a six-run deficit to defeat UC Riverside 8-7.

With the Highlanders leading 7-1, the Aztecs began their rally in the seventh scoring three runs to to cut the Highlanders lead to 7-4. The Aztecs would continue their rally in the 8th scoring two runs on RBI singles by CJ Saylor and Greg Allen to cut the Highlanders lead to 7-6.

In the top of the ninth, with two outs Aztecs Ty France would tie the game with an RBI double. Tanner Reibenspies would follow up with an RBI single to give the Aztecs the lead 8-7. Their first lead of the game, since leading the Highlanders 1-0 in the second.

In the bottom of the ninth, hard-throwing closer Michael Cederoth closed the game out for the Aztecs on a pair of strikeouts to end the game and record his second save of the season.

Aztecs freshman Cody Thomson who pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth to allow the Aztecs to comeback, recorded his first win as an Aztec and improved to 1-0 on the year.
