USD Toreros Fall to California 5-2

San Diego, CA- The 24th ranked University of San Diego Toreros fell to the California Bears 5-2 Monday afternoon at Fowler Park.

The Toreros fall to (8-2) on the season overall and ends their seven game winning streak come to an end.

The Bears scored the games first runs in the top of the third, scoring five runs off Toreros starter Louie Lechich on a two -run double and back to back RBI singles to give the Bears a 5-0 lead.

The Toreros would be held scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning, as Connor Joe lead off the inning with a triple to center-field and then scored from third on a wild pitch to get the Toreros on the board 5-1.

The Toreros would add another run before the inning ended, as starting pitcher Louie Lechich would knock in an RBI single to score Ryan Kirby and cut the Bears lead to 5-2.

The Toreros would try to rally back in the bottom of the ninth, as they loaded the bases with one out, unitl Toreros Andrew Daniel grounded into a double play to end the Toreros rally, as they fall to the Bears 5-2.

Louie Lechich suffered his first loss of the season and fell to (1-1) on the year for the Toreros. Lechich allowed five runs on six hits in 5.1 innings of work.

The 24th ranked Toreros return to action Tuesday night to face cross-town rival San Diego State for a one game series at 6 p.m. game at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
