Tyson Ross struggles early as the Dodgers defeat the San Diego Padres 5-1

San Diego, CA- Tyson Ross struggled early as the Dodgers defeat the Padres 5-1. Padres fall to (1-2) on the season.

Ross struggled to begin the game allowing three runs in the Top of the first, two of those runs scoring on a two-run double by Hanley Ramirez. Adrian Gonzalez would follow with an RBI single to give the Dodgers the lead 3-0.

Ross would struggle again in the second loading the bases on three walks, but he was able to get out of the inning after striking out two batters to keep the score 3-0.

Haren, who signed a one-year, $10 million deal in the offseason, allowed four hits with no walks and six strikeouts in his debut with the Dodgers, who are now 4-1.

Ross who fell to (0-1) on the season would exit the game in the sixth, having allowed three runs on five hits, four walks, while striking out seven in five innings if work.

The Padres scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a Yonder Alonso RBI single for his first RBI of the season to cut the Dodgers lead to 3-1. The Padres continued to struggle on offense tonight going 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and overall 2-for-23 in the 3-game series.

Padres Donn Roach made his Major League Debut tonight, allowing one run on four hits in 1.1 innings of work.

The Padres are off tomorrow as they head to Miami for a three-game series against the Miami Marlins.
