Tigers defeat the San Diego Padres 6-2

San Diego, CA- The San Diego Padres saw their two game winning streak come to an end Saturday night as the Tigers defeat the Padres 6-2.

The Tigers scored the games first run in the first on an RBI double by Ian Kinsler to score Rajai Davis and give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

Jedd Gyorko would tie the game at 1-1 for the Padres in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice-fly to score Chris Denorfia after he successfully stole third to get in scoring position for Gyorko.

The Tigers would retake the lead in the Top of the third, as Ian Kinsler after doubling to start the inning scored on an RBI double by Miguel Cabrera to to give the Tigers the lead 2-1. Torii Hunter would extend the Tigers lead in the top of the fourth on a two-run single to extend the Tigers lead to 4-1.

Yasmani Grandal would cut the Tigers lead in half in the bottom of the fourth, as Grandal drove in Chase Headley who doubled to begin the inning with an RBI single to cut the Tigers lead to 4-2.

The score would remain intact until the Top of the ninth as the Tigers add a couple of insurance off Padres reliever Tim Stauffer on an Austin Jackson two-run double to extend the Tigers lead to 6-2 and put the game out of reach for the Padres.

Ian Kennedy falls to (1-2) on the season and was decent on the mound allowing four runs on eight hits, while striking out seven in six innings of work.
