San Diego, CA- The San Diego Padres fell to the Kansas City Royals 3-1 in 11 innings Tuesday night. With the win the Royals snapped their 5 game losing streak and picked up their first ever win at Petco Park. The Royals were previously (0-7) all time against the Padres at Petco.

The Padres wasted another excellent outing by their pitching staff, as Robbie Erlin had his best start of the season. Erlin allowed one run on three hits, while striking out five in seven innings of work.

The Padres would score their only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth as Yasmani Grandal, hit his team leading fourth homerun of the season to give the Padres an early 1-0 lead.

Salvador Perez led off the top of the sixth with a solo-homerun off Erlin to tie the game at 1-1.

The Royals would attempt to take the lead in the top of the 9th, as Alcides Escobar singled and then stole second and third to put the go-ahead run on third with only one out. Houston Street would get out of the inning by getting Lorenzo Cain to pop-up to Kyle Blanks and then Blanks would throw out Escobar at home to keep the game tied.

Alex Gordon would give the Royals the lead in the top of the eighth as he drove in Eric Hosmer on an RBI single off reliever Nick Vincent to give the Royals a 2-1 lead. Gordon would later that inning score on an RBI double by Billy Butler to extend the Royals lead to 3-1.

The Padres would bring the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the 11th, after a single by Will Venable, but then for some reason Venable would decide to attempt to steal second and thrown out to basically end the Padres rally.

Andrew Cashner will take the mound for the Padres tomorrow as they look to win the three game series.
