Jedd Gyorko homers twice as the Padres blowout the Marlins

San Diego, CA- Jedd Gyorko homers twice and had a career-high six RBI’s as the San Diego Padres ended their three game losing streak as they blew out the Marlins 10-1.

The Padres scored the games first run in the bottom of the second as Yasmani Grandal would reach on an error and score on a two-run homerun by Jedd Gyorko, his fourth of the season to give the Padres a 2-0 lead.

Jedd Gyorko would extend the Padres lead in the bottom of the 6th with his second homerun of the game and his fifth of the season, a grand slam off Marlins Ace Jose Fernandez to extend the Padres lead to 6-0. Gyorko’s six RBI’s tied the Padres franchise record for most RBI’s by a second baseman in a single game.

Alexi Amarista’ would follow with an RBI single and then Will Venable would hit a sacrifice fly to increase the Padres lead to 8-0.

Tyson Ross would carry a shutout for the Padres until a Solo-HomeRun by Marcell Ozuna in the seventh inning got the Marlins on the board 8-1.

The Padres would add to their lead in the bottom of the 8th on a two-run double by Seth Smith to score Alexi Amarista and Kyle Blanks to extend the Padres lead to 10-1.

Tyson Ross was dominant tonight and improved to (4-3) on the season after allowing only one run on four hits, while striking out eight in 7 innings of work.
