Padres Yonder Alonso could be heading to the DL with a right forearm strain

San Diego, CA- Last night Padres First baseman Yonder Alonso left the game in the top of the fourth inning with a right forearm strain and according to Corey Brock of Padres.com Alonso could be headed to the DL again.

Yonder Alonso just returned from the disabled list last month, after missing 30 games with right wrist soreness.
Padres Manager Bud Black told Brock after the game that Yonder Alonso felt the pain flare while holding his bat:
"“That was a weird one,” said Padres manager Bud Black. “He was standing right next to me and had a bat in his right hand. He did something with the bat that triggered some discomfort.”"
Black also told Brock that the pain was in a similar area that sent Yonder Alonso to the disabled list with right wrist soreness earlier this season.
If Alonso is placed on the DL, expect the hot hitting Tommy Medica to assume a majority of the playing time at first base.

Alonso’s despite struggling this season for the Padres, batting only .24o with 7 home runs and 27 RBI’s, he has been hitting well since coming off the DL. Alonso is batting .421 (16-for-38) with two home runs and 5 RBI’s since returning.
This injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for Yonder Alonso.
A.J Preller and Padres will use the final two months of the season to figure out who fits in their plans for 2015 and let’s be honest both the fans and the Padres themselves don’t view Yonder Alonso as the “1st baseman of the future”.
Yonder Alonso has struggled all season and with a new GM in charge Alonso needed to play well the rest of the season to prove to Preller that he should remain the team’s starting first baseman going forward.
