The San Diego Chargers 53 man roster is set. 22 players were cut on offense and defense. The most surprising of these moves was wide receiver Vincent Brown did not make the team and was waived-injured.

11 players were cut on offense. Quarterback Brad Sorensen, wide receiver Vincent Brown, wide receiver Javontee Herndon, wide receiver Torrance Allen, wide receiver Tevin Reese, tight end Michael Flacco, guard Craig Watts, tackle Jeremiah Sirles, tackle Kenny Wiggins, tackle Michael Harris, and center Khalil Wilkes.

The cuts that surprised me were Vincent Brown, Tevin Reese, and Michael Harris. I thought Brown would be healthy by Week 2 and he has steadily improved over his career. He could land with a good team once he is healthy.

Reese would have been a great slot receiver to learn from Royal. Dontrelle Inman had a great preseason so Reese was the odd man out.

Finally I thought Michael Harris would have been a great backup to King Dunlap and D.J. Fluker. He was not chosen to be a backup tackle and it’s surprising.

11 players were cut on defense. Defensive tackle Chas Alecxih, defensive ends Joe Kruger and Doug Worthington. Linebackers Victor Aiyewa, Colton Underwood, Thomas Keiser, and Cordarro Law. Cornerbacks Greg Ducre and Crezdon Butler plus safeties Adrian Phillips and Alden Darby. Most of these defensive moves were expected.

The biggest surprise was that running backs Branden Oliver and Marion Grice both made the team. If the Chargers choose to sign a cut defensive linemen, Grice could be the first player to get cut.
