This another huge blow to the Chargers. The Chargers defense has been playing very well to begin the season and Manti Te’o was a key piece to that, as before the injury he was playing solid defense up the middle. Manti Te’o was off to a solid start this season, with 19 tackles in three games. Manti Te’o had 10 tackles Sunday in the Chargers 22-10 win over the Buffalo Bills.

With the loss of Manti Te’o expect Kavell Conner to replace him in the starting lineup. Manti Te’o missed multiple games during the preseason with a sprained left foot and in his absence Conner provided solid defense up the middle.

The Chargers signed Kavell Conner to a three-year deal this past off-season to replace inside linebackers Bront Bird and Jonas Mouton.

Conner had started 36 games in his three seasons since being drafted by Tom Telesco and the Colts out of Clemson in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL draft. Conner has 217 career tackles and had his best season in 2011, when he made 108 tackles in 15 starts for the Colts.
