Terron Armstead wasn’t a huge name that was going to be tossed around this weekend at the  NFL Combine but he sure opened some eyes with the 40-yard dash. Armstead ran a blistering 4.65. Oh, did I mention he weighs 306 pounds? Yeah, take that in for a minute.

Armstead took most of his snaps at tackle at Arkansas Pine-Bluff but he’s shown that he can fit in at guard as well. He was a standout player during the East-West shrine game and then received a call up to the Senior Bowl, where he also performed well. Armstead is quick and athletic and can get out in traffic and lay the smack down. One of his biggest strengths is his ability to sell run fakes, screens, and draws.

His biggest struggle has been dealing with the bull rush, another reason why he could move to the guard position. He’s inconsistent in his run-blocking abilities, despite his quick feet and agility.

Armstead has seen his draft stock rise in the off-season with solid performances and as the weekend combine goes on, he’s hoping to see it rise even higher. He could hear his name called in the early second round. The Chargers could possibly give him a look if he hangs around in the later rounds.
