Feb 23, 2013; Anaheim, CA, USA; Ronda Rousey (black shorts) and Liz Carmouche (white shorts) fight during their UFC women

The main event of UFC 157 went just about how everyone expected it to. With 4:49 left in the 1st round, Ronda Rousey locked in her world famous arm bar and it proved to be too much for Liz Carmouche.

Rousey started the fight the same way she has every one up until this point: fast. She bullrushed Carmouche from the get-go. Carmouche kept the fight even, taking Rousey’s back and eventually locking in a sloppy rear naked choke. Rousey wiggled out of it, nearly succumbing to the Girl-Rilla’s submission.

The fight stayed on the ground, with a couple tosses and turns. Rousey eventually ended up taking side control and that’s all she wrote. Carmouche went for a quick triangle to keep Rousey at bay but ultimately failed and fell victim to the deadly armbar.

The fight marked the first ever women’s fight in the UFC, with Rousey retaining her Women’s Bantamweight Championship with a victory via armbar late in the first round. Carmouche put up a better battle than most of Rousey’s opponents but in the end, Rowdy Ronda was just too much.

Court McGee (def) Josh Neer via unanimous decision
