Antwan Barnes is among a good amount of players who won’t be re-signed by the Chargers today.

Barnes played three seasons with the Chargers after spending only two games with the Philadelphia Eagles. Originally Barnes was a fourth round draft selection by the Baltimore Ravens. He recorded 18.5 of his 23.5 sacks with the Chargers and led the team in 2011 with 11.0.

The market for 3-4 outside linebackers is slim this off-season so the time to test the free market for the six-year guy is right now. It’s been rumored that many teams will be interested in the pass rusher’s services.

Barnes could be a solid number one guy at the outside position or he could be used as just a pass rusher. Alex Marvez has said that at least six teams are interested in Barnes, but no teams have been named yet. The Browns, Colts and Redskins are all in search of an outside linebacker, but the Browns could be a top-landing place spot for the free agent.

Other free agent Paul Kruger leads the class of 3-4 backers but for teams who can’t make a serious run at him, Barnes could be a good pick-up for a slightly cheaper price.

Free agency starts at 4:00 pm ET (1:00 pm PT).
