Darth Vader joins Chargers on Monday Nite Football

Monday Nite Football and Darth Vader?  Yes, that what happens when the creator of the new MNF opening segment is Peter Berg, the filmmaker and football fanatic who also created Friday Night Lights. Berg came up with the idea of packing 44 years of culture and football history into a 90-second curtain-raiser for the weekly game.  Click here to see the photo montage for the opening sequence.  It sounds like it it going to be an amazing concept.  The plan is to regularly tweak the opening, adding and subtracting historical moments.  Look for John Lennon, clips from the Matrix and random Disney moments as well.

The Monday Nite Football opening day is a double header, starting at 5:00 with the Eagles at Redskins followed by our home opener where the Texans play the Chargers at 7:00.  For those of us who will be at Qualcomm I am pretty sure tho segment will be on the big screen, but you may want to set your DVR just in case!
