The San Diego Chargers are in Arizona getting ready to cook like bacon while facing the Arizona Cardinals in their third preseason matchup of the the season.  The Cardinals stadium is in Phoenix and according to weather.com it will be 104 with scattered thunderstorms.  Sounds like fun, NOT!  Fortunately for everyone involved University of Phoenix stadium is a dome so it will be a nice day inside.  It is also the only dome with natural grass.  I just read on Wiki that the stadium has an opening on one side to allow the playing field to move to the exterior of the building, allowing the entire natural turf playing surface to be exposed to daylight.  Probably the coolest thing I have ever heard about stadium design, but I digress.

While this will be another preseason job interview for most of the team it will have some interesting tidbits.  Chargers safety Brandon Taylor has a brother who plays for the Cardinals, and is also a safety.  Look for Brandon and Curtis to be making some big plays to show off for each other.

Bolts OC Ken Whisenhunt was the Cardinals head coach from 2007-12 and left with the most wins in franchise history.  He may be showing off some new plays or keep it simple since the Bolts do not face the Cards in regular season.

As far as playing time goes, head coach Mike McCoy says he might switch things up a bit.  Around the league, starters play the most in the third game, often times going into the third quarter.  In the first preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, the first team offense played one series, driving 74-yards on 12 plays, finishing it off with a field goal.  The defense played two series, forcing a punt each time.  Last week against the Chicago Bears, the starters played into the second quarter, building off the previous game.  McCoy says he will just trust his gut on when he will be taking starters out.

Game time is 7PM Charger time and it will be on NFL Network and KFMB.  Enjoy the game and Boltup!
