For the second time in three weeks the San Diego Chargers Philip Rivers has been given the AFC offensive player of the week award.  Rivers had a great game on Sunday against the Cowboys and the Bolts went on to win 30 – 21 it at home.

Rivers set an NFL record for completion percentage (83%) for a quarterback who also threw for over 400 yards (401). In addition, Rivers recorded his 200th career touchdown pass on his third score of the day.

The first time Rivers got the award this season was week two after another 400 yard game and another win over the Eagles.

Prior to Week Two, the last time Rivers had won the player of the week award was in 2008.  That is quite a dry spell for the quarterback most consider elite.  Myself included.
