San Diego,CA- San Diego Chargers Tight-End John Phillips will miss the rest of season with a right knee injury suffered Sunday in the Chargers 26-13 win over the Raiders.

Phillips injured his knee on a 5-yard reception in the first quarter of yesterday’s game.

Philips a five year veteran was signed by the Chargers this past offseason to a 3-year contract. In his first season with the Chargers, Phillips appeared in all 15 games, made six starts and had four receptions for 30-yards.

Phillips was brought in to be a run blocking tight end and backup to Antonio Gates. Philips has seen his role of backup tight-end decrease of late with with the emergence of Ladarius Green as not only a dynamic receiver, but also be a better run & pass blocker than Philips.
