Chargers promote Nick Sirianni, hire Bobby King and Shane Steichen

San Diego,CA- Chargers Head-Coach Mike McCoy and the San Diego Chargers have completed filling out their coaching staff for the 2014 season by promoting Nick Sirianni to quarterbacks coach, hiring Bobby King as assistant linebackers coach and Shane Steichen as quality control-offense.

Sirianni was promoted to quarterbacks coach, after serving as a quality control assistant on offense for the Chargers last season. He originally joined the Chargers from the Kansas City Chiefs, where coached from 2009-12 as a quality control coach, wide receivers coach and quarterbacks coach. Sirianni replaces Frank Reich—who the was the Chargers quarterbacks coach before being promotes to offensive coordinator, after former offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt left to become the new Head-Coach of the Tennessee Titans.

King joins the Chargers after previously working for the Houston Texans, where he was the assistant linebackers coach. King has coached in the NFL for four seasons. King is replacing former assistant linebackers coach Byron Storer, who resigned from the team this offseason to pursue opportunities outside of football.

Steichen returns to the Chargers after spending last season with the Cleveland Browns as offensive quality control coach. Steichen was a defensive assistant for the Chargers from 2011-2012.
