San Diego,CA- The San Diego Padres have cancelled their exhibition game against the Mexico City Red Devils, that was scheduled for March 27 at Petco Park and their exhibition game against the Cleveland Indians, that was scheduled for March 28 at Petco Park. The Padres will instead play both scheduled exhibition games against the Cleveland Indians at the University of San Diego’s Fowler Park and Cunningham Field for the final two games of spring training.
The first game at the University of San Diego’s Fowler Park and Cunningham Field will take place on March 28 at 6:10 p.m. and the second on March 29 at 1:10 p.m. The Padres open the regular season March 30 at 5:05 p.m. when the Los Angeles Dodgers visit Petco Park for ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball season opener.
This will be a great way for the Padres to show off one of San Diego’s finest sporting complexes as reiterated by Padres President and CEO Mike Dee and USD’s athletic director Ky Snyder in today’s press release.
"“We’re thrilled to be able to provide a unique showcase of Major League Baseball in an intimate college setting here in San Diego,” Padres president and CEO Mike Dee said in a release. “As this is still spring training, these contests will bring a spring training-like atmosphere to our great fans in San Diego. We appreciate the support of Ky Snyder and the entire USD Athletics Department as well as the Cleveland Indians.”“We are excited to welcome the Padres to Fowler Park and to showcase our facility to a broader baseball audience,” USD athletic director Ky Snyder said in the release. “Fowler Park is a true gem and now, not only will future major leaguers have the opportunity to enjoy its confines, but so will today’s major league players.”"
