No. 6/7 San Diego State Aztecs vs. Utah State Game Preview

San Diego,CA- The No. 6/7 San Diego State Aztecs host one of the hottest teams in the Mountain West tonight as the Aztecs face the Utah State Aggies for the second time this season. Game starts at 8 p.m and will be televised on ESPNU.
This is the first time the Aztecs have hosted Utah State at home since 1998. The Aggies lead the series all time as they are (3-1) all time against the Aztecs.
Their first loss came earlier in the season, as the Aztecs defeated the Aggies 74-69 in Overtime. Utah State forced overtime with a last second 3-pointer to tie the game, until Xavier Thames who scored a career-high 31 points, with 10 of them coming in overtime to help lead the Aztecs to victory.
The Aggies come into this game (15-10) on the season and (5-8) in the Mountain West. The Aggies are one of the hottest teams in the league, winning three of its last four games to to improve to (5-8) in conference after starting (2-6) in conference play. With wins over Boise State, Nevada and Colorado State and a loss to 3rd
place UNLV.
The Aztecs cannot afford to have another off-night offensively as they have had the past few games and will need leading scorers Xavier Thames and Winston Shepard to carry the team on offenses, as the Aggies are one of the highest scoring teams in the Mountain West. The Aggies lead the Mountain West in 3-point field goal percentage and senior guards Preston Medlin and Spencer Butterfield both rank in the top 10 of 3-point shooters in the Mountain West.
Coach Fisher during his weekly Monday Press Conference yesterday expressed how tough and improved this Utah State team has become.
