San Diego, CA- The San Diego State Aztecs fell to (3-2) on the season, as they fell to West Virginia Friday night 6-2.
West Vriginia scored the first run of the game in the top of the second, on a wild pitch by starter Mike Robards. With runners on first and third with two outs, RoBards let a pitch get away from him to give West Virginia a 1-0 lead.
The Aztecs scored their first runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a Ty France two-out two-run double to give the Aztecs a 2-1 lead.
The Aztecs lead wouldn’t last for long as West Virginia’s shortstop Taylor Munden would tie the game in the 5th on a solo home run and a sacrifice fly by Rain McBroom to give West Virginia a 3-2 lead.
The Aztecs were unable to mount a comeback as West Virginia’s bullpen held the Aztecs scoreless in the games final four innings to preserve a 6-2 victory.
The Aztecs return to action tomorrow, for game two of the three game series against West Virginia. Tonight was the first-ever meeting between West Virginia and San Diego State.
