USD Toreros Complete Series Sweep of Northern Kentucky

San Diego, CA- The University of San Diego Toreros completed a series sweep of Northern Kentucky scoring eight runs to comeback and defeat Northern Kentucky 14-8. The Toreros improve to (6-1) on the season and extend their winning streak to five games. The Toreros scored at least 10 runs today for the fifth consecutive game to set a program record.
The Toreros scored the games first runs, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead 2-0. The Toreros lead wouldn’t last long as Northern Kentucky scored five-runs in the top of the second to take the lead 5-2.
The Toreros would regain the lead, scoring three runs in the bottom of the third inning. On a bases-loaded RBI walk to dual threat Louie Lechich and a two-run RBI single by Connor Joe to give the Toreros a 6-5 lead.
Northern Kentucky would regain the lead quickly, scoring three runs in the fourth to retake the lead 8-6 . The Toreros would once again regain the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring three runs on RBI singles by both Austin Bailey and Lechich to give the Toreros the lead 9-8.
The Toreros would add another run in the 7th and four in the 8th to defeat Northern Kentucky for the series sweep 14-8.
Dual-threat Louie Lechich led the Toreros on offense as he went 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI’s. Conner Joe also had a solid day at the plate going 3-for-5 with four RBI’s.
Brandon Show (1-0) picked up his first win of the season for the Toreros, as he allowed no runs on four hits in 3.1 innings of work.
The Toreros return to action on next Friday, as they open play in the USD Tournament with a 3 p.m. game against Baylor
