Aztecs defeat St. Mary’s 7-3

San Diego, CA- The San Diego State Aztecs improved to 7-2 on the season and are off to their best start since 1997 when the Aztecs started (14-2), after defeating St. Mary 7-3. The Aztecs extend their winning streak to four games.
The Aztecs scored the games first run in the Top of the First on a Ryan Muno’s RBI single to give the Aztecs the lead 1-0.
The Aztecs extended their lead to 4-0 in the second on s leadoff home run by Ty France and a two run single by Greg Allen.
The Aztecs added two runs in the seventh and a run in the ninth as the Aztecs defeated the Gaels 7-2.
Closer Michael Cederoth pitched the final 1.2 innings to pick up his third save of the season, striking out the side in the 9th to end the game.
Mike RoBards was solid on the mound for the Aztecs, allowing three runs on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts in 7 innings of work. Robards with the win improved to (2-1) on the season.
Greg Allen led the Aztecs on offense going 3-5 with a double, two RBI’s and a run scored. This is the third straight game the Aztecs have finished with double figures in hits.
The San Diego State Aztecs return to the diamond tomorrow for a doubleheader. With the first game starting at 10 am and game number two starting at 1:30 pm. The Aztecs are playing a double header tomorrow to make up for Fridays game that was postponed due to heavy rain.
