San Diego, CA- The  San Diego Padres defeat the Milwaukee Brewers 8-4 Friday afternoon in game number 9 of cactus league play.

The Padres improve to (3-5-1) on the spring.

The Padres took the early lead, in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Xavier Nady to give them a 1-0 lead. Alex Dickerson extended the Padres lead in the bottom of the second on his first homerun of the spring to extend the Padres lead to 2-0. Alexi Amarista would add an RBI single on a line drive to center field to score Everth Cabrera and increase the Padres lead to 3-0.

The Padres would add a run in the Top of the fourth on a Rico Noel inside-the-park home run, his first home-run of the Spring to extend the Padres lead to 4-0.

The Brewers would cut the Padres lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth on a Scooter Gennett two-run home-run off Padres top pitching prospect Matt Wisler.

Cody Decker would put the game away for the Padres in the Top of the seventh on a two run double to score Cory Spangenberg and Tommy Medica as the Padres would go on to defeat the Brewers 6-2.

Padres starter Tyson Ross continued his dominant spring today, allowing no runs on no hits while striking out three in three innings of work. Ross has pitched now in six innings this spring and has yet to allow a hit this spring. Robbie Erlin was also solid on the mound for the Padres, allowing no runs on no hits while striking out two in two innings of work.
