Tyson Ross struggles again as the Indians defeat the San Diego Padres 8-6

San Diego, CA- The Cleveland Indians defeat the San Diego Padres 8-6 in game one of the three game series. Padres fall to (2-5) on the season.

The Indians would score the games first runs in the bottom of the third, after Tyson Ross walked Yan Gomes and David Murphy to begin the inning. Then on a throwing error on a ground ball to second baseman Jedd Gyorko allowed Gomes to score to give the Indians the lead 1-0. The Indians would score two more runs off Ross on an RBI groundout by Nick Swisher and a Kipnis sacrifice fly to extend the Indians lead to 3-0.

The Padres would responded in the top of the fourth on a two-run double by Gyorko to cut the Indians lead to 3-2.

Ross would continue to struggle for the Padres in the bottom of the fourth, as Ross dropped throw to first base by Alonso to begin the inning and that error would come back to haunt him, as David Murphy hit a two out three- run HomeRun to extend the Indians lead to 6-2.

Jedd Gyorko would cut the Indians lead in half with a hit a two-out RBI single to cut the Indians lead to 6-3.

The Indians would answer back in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double by Murphy and an RBI single by Morgan to increase the Indians lead to 8-3.

The Padres would make the final score close in the top of the ninth with a 422 ft HomeRun by Xavier Nady, his first HomeRun as a Padre since 2005 and an RBI single by Grandal to make the score 8-6 as the Padres fall to the Indians.

Jedd Gyorko who has struggled to begin the season, was solid at the plate today with 3 RBI’s and Yasmani Grandal continued his solid start to the season going 4-5 with an RBI for the Padres.

Tyson Ross with the loss falls to (0-2) on the season, after allowing seven runs on five hits and five walks in 5.1 innings of work.
