San Diego, CA- After pitching a gem in his last start, Tyson Ross struggled tonight as the Brewers defeat the Padres 5-2 to win the series.

Seth Smith and Nick Hundley each drove in a run for San Diego, which has dropped three of its last four. Starter Tyson Ross (2-3) was reached for five runs on nine hits over six innings in defeat.

The Padres scored the games first run in the top of the 1st, as Everth Cabrera led off the game with a double and eventually scored from third on a sacrifice fly by Seth Smith.

The Brewers would answer back in the bottom of the first as Scooter Gennett scored to tie the game at 1-1 on an RBI single by Ryan Braun.

Jean Segura would give the Brewers the lead in the bottom of the second with a three-run homerun to give the Brewers the lead 4-1.

Ross would allow his second homerun of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a solo-homerun by Khris Davis to extend their lead to 5-1.

The Padres would cut the Brewers lead to 5-2 in the 7th on an RBI single by Nick Hundley to score Jedd Gyorko for their second run of the game off Kyle Lohse. That’s as close as the Padres would get as Brewers closer Francisco Rodriguez would retire the Padres in order in the 9th to seal the win for the Brewers.

The Padres now head to the Nations capital to take on the Washington Nationals for a four game series.
