San Diego, CA- Tim Hudson held the Padres offense in check all night as he carried the San Francisco Giants to a 3-2 win over the San Diego Padres to win the three game series.

The Giants took the early lead scoring a run in the first and second.

In the bottom of the first the Giants scored the games first run as Hunter Pence scored on an RBI double by Michael Morse.

In the second Brandon Hicks hit a solo-home run to extend their lead to 2-0.

The score would remain the same until the bottom of the seventh, as Joaquin Arias scored on an RBI single by Buster Posey to increase the Giants lead to 3-0.

The Padres would get on the board in the top of the eighth as Cameron Maybin scored on an RBI groundout by Alexi Amarista.

The Padres would cut the Giants lead to one in the top of the ninth as Yasmani Grandal hit s solo-home run, his second of the season with two outs in the ninth to to cut the Giants lead to 3-2. Thats as close as the Padres would get though as starter Tim Hudson would be relieved, for closer Sergio Romo who would retire Chris Denorfia for his seventh save of the season to seal the win for the Giants.

Robbie Erlin fell to (1-3) on the season and despite struggling early turned in a solid start, allowing three runs on eight hits in 6.2 innings of work for the Padres. This was the second straight start for Erlin, where he struggled with his command early and improved as the game wore on.
