San Diego, CA- The Chargers have signed running back D.J. Adams and eight more undrafted free agents.

D.J. Adams is a 5’9 running back out of Portland State University. Adams was named an Associated Press Third All-American after rushing for 1,600 yards and 19 touchdowns on 256 carries last season.

Expect D.J. Adams to battle in training camp for a spot on the Chargers roster as a special-teams player and backup running back.

Here’s a scouting report of D.J. Adams by Nolan Nawrocki of NFL.com:

"Has a solid build and a low center of gravity and good contact balance to run through arm tackles and clear his feet through traffic. Slippery runner with nice vision and short-area burst. Has quick feet and a creative flair and can shake some tacklers in the hole or open field. Has soft hands. Emerged as a freshman at Maryland before being relegated to the bench and transferring to Portland State. Followed a standout senior season by earning MVP distinction in the Medal of Honor all-star game for his former Terps coach Ralph Friedgen. Possesses the run size and run instincts to compete for a complementary role."

The Chargers have also signed….

Michael Flacco TE New Haven

Micah Hatfield WR Oregon St.

Javontee Herndon WR Arkansas

D.J. Johnson OG New Mexico

Alvin Scioneaux LB Wofford

Jeremiah Sirles OT Nebraska

Chase Tenpenny P Nevada

Ian White OT Boston College

Of all the remaining signings the one that to me is the most intriguing is wide-receiver Micah Hatfield out of Oregon State. Hatfield struggled to consistently get on the field for the Beavers due to injuries and playing time, but when he did get on the field he showed flashes of excellence. Hatfield impressed scouts with his athleticism at his Pro Day as a big, fast, athletic receiver. He ran a 4.38 40 yd dash.

Comment below Chargers fans and let me know what you think of the signings.
