San Diego, CA- The San Diego Chargers have signed 2nd-round pick Georgia-Tech outside linebacker Jerry Attaochu to a four year contract according to UT-San Diego’s Michael Gehlken.

The San Diego Chargers traded their second and fourth round picks to the Miami Dolphins to move up seven spots in the second round of  the 2014 NFL Draft to select Jerry Attaochu with the 50th overall pick. Jerry Attaochu had 12 1/2 sacks last season for Georgia-Tech and finished his career as the school’s all-time sacks leader with 31 1/2 sacks.

The addition of Jerry Attaochu strengthens the Chargers pass rush that struggled to get to opposing quarterbacks last season.

Jerry Attaochu also brings a sense of swagger to the Chargers defense as he believes he’s going to be an impact player for the Chargers.

"“I’m going to be an amazing player,” concedes the 6-3, 253-pound Attaochu, in town for the team’s weekend rookie camp. “I’ve been blessed throughout my career and I hope to continue that here. I’m going to be a fixture on this defense for years to come.“I was a three-star recruit out of high school playing with all these 4-and-5-star guys. I had the drive to succeed. I was one of the best pass rushers to go through Georgia Tech. But I’m not a big hype guy. I came here to go to work.” – UT-San Diego"

Last week before the teams rookie minicamp the Chargers signed Third-round selection offensive lineman Chris Watt, fifth-round selection defensive tackle Ryan Carrethers, sixth-round pick running back Marion Grice and seventh-round selection wide receiver Tevin Reese all signed four-year contracts.

Chargers first-round selection cornerback Jason Verrett is the only draft pick from this year’s draft class who remain’s unsigned.
