San Diego, CA- Tommy Medica carried the Padres to a 4-3 victory Tuesday night with a solo homerun in the top of the eighth to break the 3-3 tie and give the Padres the lead for good.
The Diamondbacks scored the games first runs in the bottom of the second on Martin Prado‘s first homerun of the season to give the Diamondbacks 1-0 lead.
The lead wouldn’t last for long as the Padres would take the lead in the top of the third, scoring three runs on RBI singles by Chris Denorfia, Chase Headley and Tommy Medica to score Carlos Quentin and give the Padres a 3-1 lead.
The Diamondbacks would cut into the Padres in the sixth, as Paul Goldschmidt scored on an RBI double by Miguel Montero to cut the Padres lead to 3-2.
The Padres would allow the Diamondbacks back in the game in the seventh, as Chris Denorfia lost a fly-ball in the lights to lead off the inning that allowed Cliff Pennington to reach second base with nobody out. Gerardo Parra would tie the game off reliever Alex Torres on an RBI single to score Pennington and tie the game at 3-3.
Tommy Medica would homer off reliever Evan Marshall for his second homerun of the season to give the Padres the lead.
