The Padres scored the games first run in the third on Maybin’s first homerun of the season to give the Padres a 1-0 lead.
The White Sox would tie the game in the fourth asConor Gillaspiescored on a wild pitch by Ian Kennedy to tie the game at 1-1.
Rene Riverawould give the Padres back the lead in the top of the fifth, as he scored from third on a wild pitch byJohn Danksto give the Padres the lead 2-1.
Yonder Alonsowould extend the Padres lead to 4-1 in the eighth on a two run home-run by Alonso, his fourth of the season.
Padres closer and more than likely their all-star representative this seasonHuston Streetpitched a perfect ninth for his 16th save in of the season to seal the win for the Padres. Street is now 16 for 16 on save opportunities this season.
Ian Kennedy improved to (4-6) on the season, after allowing just one run on four hits while striking out nine in six innings of work. It was good to see the Padres offense finally support Kennedy as his record on the season is not a good indication of how well he’s pitched this season.
On offense Alonso was 3-for-4 andChris DenorfiaandCarlos Quentinhad two hits each. Quentin also tonight extended his hitting streak to nine straight games.
