San Diego, CA- Tyson Ross finished his excellent month of May with another excellent outing today as he carried the Padres past the White Sox 4-2 for the series victory.

Tyson Ross improved to (6-4) on the season, after allowing only one run on five hits while striking out five in six innings of work. Ross has now allowed only one run for the fifth time in his last six starts.

The Padres scored the games first runs in the top of the second on RBI doubles from Will Venable and Rene Rivera to give the Padres a 2-0 lead.

The White Sox would cut Padres lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the second as Alexi Ramirez scored on a double play groundout by Alejandro De Aza. Will Venable would extend the Padres lead to 3-1 on an RBI single in the top of the third.

Dayan Viciedo would cut the Padres lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double to score Adam Eaton. The Padres would respond in the top of the sixth as Will Venable scored on a sacrifice fly by Alexi Amarista to extend the Padres lead to 4-2.

After Tyson Ross exited in the sixth, Nick Vincent and Joaquin Benoit would toss scoreless innings each and closer Huston Street would come in for the save for the second straight day for his 17th save of the season to seal the win for the Padres.

With the win the Padres improved to 20-4 this season when scoring four or more runs. Just even more evidence that if this teams offense could just be decent and average 3-4 runs to support Tyson Ross and this solid pitching staff, the Padres can at least stay in the race for the second wildcard spot.
