San Diego, CA- Earlier this week the San Diego Padres promoted their 2013 first-round pick outfielder Hunter Renfroe from High-A Lake Elsinore to Double-A San Antonio.
Wednesday night Hunter Renfroe made his debut for Double-A San Antonio going 1 for 3 in San Antonio’s 5-2 win.
Last night Hunter Renfroe hit his first Double-A home run for the Missions.
Renfroe, the Padres No. 5 prospect had an excellent first half for the Lake Elsinore, batting .295 with 16 home runs and 52 RBI’s.
"“He had a great first half in Elsinore.” “The thing that I was very pleased with is he cut down on the strikeouts, the average came up and he carried that into June.” – Padres Vice President of Player Development Randy Smith"
When the San Diego Padres selected Hunter Renfroe with the 13th overall pick in the first round of the MLB draft last season the Padres hoped he would develop into the power bat the Padres desperately and so far he’s lived up to his potential. Hunter Renfroe entered the season as the Padres #5 prospect down on the farm and was the best hitter in Single-A so far this season. Hunter Renfroe leads all of the California League in home runs and has doubled his home run total from last season with 16 home runs for the Storm this season. With the way Hunter Renfroe has performed this season it was no surprise to see him prompted to Double-A San Antonio and maybe Renfroe will even be promoted to Triple-A El Paso before the end of the season.
