San Diego Padres win again in extras and sweep Braves

San Diego, CA- For the second straight the San Diego Padres were able to come through in extra innings, as Everth Cabrera came through with the walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 10th to give the San Diego Padres a 3-2 win and series sweep over the Braves.
The San Diego Padres have now won five of their last six games.
Will Venable would score the first run of the game in the bottom of the second, as he scored on a clutch two-out RBI single by pitcher Tyson Ross to give the Padres a 1-0 lead. Venable would score again in the bottom of the fourth, on a sacrifice fly by Cabrera to extend the Padres lead to 2-0.
After shutting out the Braves through six innings, Ross would struggle in the seventh allowing only a leadoff walk, an RBI triple by Heyward and an RBI double by Evan Gattis to tie the game at 2-2.
Tommy Medica continued his impressive home stand, with his 7th home run of the season to give the Padres a 3-2 lead. Medica was 8 for 12 with five RBIs in the three-game sweep of Atlanta, extending the Braves’ losing streak to six games.
The Padres were unable to seal the win in the 9th, as Jason Heyward would score and tie the game on a throwing error by closer Joaquin Benoit.
Tyson Ross was solid on the mound for the San Diego Padres, allowing two runs on five hits and seven strikeouts in six innings of work. Tim Stauffer picked up the win for the second straight day and improved to (4-2) on the season.
