Video: Padres Yangervis Solarte takes away a hit with a great diving catch
By Joel Burdeos
San Diego,CA- Last night Yangervis Solarte started at second base for the San Diego Padres in place of the injured Jedd Gyorko. Gyorko tweaked his left hamstring last Thursday against the Los Angeles Dodgers and is considered day-to-day.
Yangervis Solarte made the most of his opportunity as he made one of the top defensive plays of the day, by robing Martin Maldonado of a hit with a great diving catch on a line-drive up the middle in the top of the 2nd.
I’ll say it again…I absolutely love the the swagger, hustle and overall smoothness Yangervis Solarte brings to this San Diego Padres team. Yangervis Solarte continues to prove that he was an excellent addition to this team and will defianlty have the opportunity to start at 2nd or 3rd base for the Padres next season.
