San Diego,CA- After making his major league debut yesterday for the San Diego Padres,Cory Spangenbergcontinued to make his presence felt today with a pinch-hit walk-off home run, his first career home run to give the Padres a 2-1 win over the Diamondbacks.
With the game tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the 9th Spangenberg came off the bench to pinch-hit forCameron Maybinand smoked the first pitch he saw into the right field bleachers for his first career home run.
According to Patrick Kurish the last two Major League Baseball players to hit a pinch hit HR for their first career home run were both Padres. Cory Spangenberg tonight and former PadrePaul McAnultyin 2006.
