San Diego, CA- San Diego State Aztecs ran over UNLV 34-17 Saturday night in their Mountain West Conference opener. Sophomore running back Donnel Pumphrey dominated the Rebels and rushed for a career-high tying 167 yards and all four of the San Diego State Aztecs touchdowns.

The San Diego State Aztecs (2-2, 1-0 MW) were looking to rebound from their rough loss 28-7 loss to the Oregon State Beavers last week.

The Rebels scored the games first points on a 22-yard field goal by Jonathan Leiva to give them the early 3-0 lead.

Donnel Pumphrey then scored his first touchdown on a 71 yard run to give the Aztecs a 7-3 lead in the 1st quarter.

The Rebels would regain the lead on a 44-yard touchdown pass from Blake Decker to Devonte Boyd to give the Rebels a 10 -7 lead.

The Aztecs would regain the lead on Donnel Pumphrey’s 2nd touchdown, a 1 yard run to give the Aztecs back the lead 14-10. The Aztecs would score 17 unanswered points end the game including two more touchdowns by Donnel Pumphrey.
