San Diego Chargers CB Shareece Wright could return Sunday against the Chiefs

San Diego, CA- San Diego Chargers cornerback Shareece Wright could return to the Chargers as early as Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego.

Gehlken also reports that the Chargers and Head Coach Mike McCoy will determine through Wright’s performance this week in practice if he can play this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Shareece Wright has been out the past two weeks with a sprained MCL he suffered following an accidental collision with safety Jahleel Addae in the second quarter of Week 4’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Chargers drafted Shareece Wright in the 3rd round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of the University of Southern California and has been the San Diego Chargers starting left cornerback the past two seasons and has been a key contributor on the Chargers defense this season. Shareece Wright had been one of the Chargers top tacklers this season before suffering a sprained MCL.

The Chargers might desperately need Shareece Wright to return this weekend, as cornerback Brandon Flowers may not be able to play due to a groin injury he suffered during Sunday’s 31-28 win against the Oakland Raiders.

Flowers has made a huge impact on the Chargers defense this season. Flowers leads the team with two interceptions and has brought veteran leadership and toughness to a secondary that has been the weak spot in the Chargers defense the past few seasons.

I do expect Flowers to play this weekend as he will be highly motivated to show his former team the Kansas City Chiefs that they made a mistake in releasing him this past off-season.
