San Diego, CA- The San Diego Sockers kickoff their first season in the Major Arena Soccer League tonight at home against the Las Vegas Legends. Game-time is set for 7:05 p.m at the Valley View Casino Center. If you can’t make it to the game you can watch the Sockers online at GoLiveSportscast.com or listen to them on the radio all-season on ESPN 1700-AM.

The San Diego Sockers since returning to action in 2009 have spent the past six seasons in the Professional Arena Soccer League. This off-season the PASL added six teams from the MISL to create a new 23 team Major Arena Soccer League.

The San Diego Sockers have been one of the most winning teams in american professional sports since being revived in 2009.

The San Diego Sockers set the record for the longest winning streak in United States professional sports history in 2009 with 41 consecutive wins. Their streak lasted from 2010-2013 and was snapped after 48 consecutive wins. The San Diego Sockers since 2009 are (71-9) and won four consecutive PASL championships from 2009-2014.

Last season the San Diego Sockers were unable to win their fifth consecutive PASL championship. The Sockers finished the season (14-4) and were defeated by the Las Vegas Legends 11-7 in the divisional round of the Ron Newman Cup playoffs.

The San Diego Sockers this season for the first time since returning in 2009 will be without team captain Aaron Susi, as he retired this past off-season.

Despite the loss of Susi, the Sockers are still expected to compete for the championship this season. The San Diego Sockers are lead by Kraig Chiles one of the best players in arena soccer and three-time PASL MVP.

The Sockers this season will look to not only win their first MASL championship, but their 15th championship in their franchises history.
