The SDSU Aztecs football team has been led by their running game all season. The San Jose Spartans had lost 5 games in a row coming into Qualcomn Stadium. SDSU knew that they could get a big win and give San Jose their 6th loss if they ran the ball well.

SDSU had 427 yards of total offense with 34 yards total coming from passing. They had 393 yards of rushing offense from the 2 headed monster of Donnel Pumphrey and Chase Price. They came in with a plan to establish the run and they did.

Donnel Pumphrey had 22 carries for 267 yards and 3 touchdowns. Chase Price had 22 carries for 93 yards and 1 touchdown. 3rd stringer Lucky Radley joined in the rushing party with 5 carries for 31 yards and a late touchdown.

Aztecs defense came to shut down the Spartans, only allowing 244 yards of offense. Spartans had 12 first downs and converted 5 3rd downs out of 16. It’s important for the Aztecs defense to get a dominant performance going into bowl season.

The Aztecs have finished their season at 7-5 with a 5-3 record in the Mountain West. They are going to be bowl eligible and it will be interesting where. Another positive season for the Aztecs especially with a dominant core of young players. Now we wait for the future of the Aztecs football season to be decided.
