Chargers name team captains, Butler gets the nod.

Just got this off the Chargers.com site.  No surprises here.

OFFENSE

Philip Rivers – An unquestioned leader of the Bolts.  Rivers has been a captain since 2009.

Nick HardwickThe only member of the offensive line to return to the same position as a year ago.  The Chargers center will serve as captain for the fourth consecutive season.

DEFENSE

Eric Weddle – Weddle was named the Chargers Most Valuable Player in 2012 and was also a first-team All-Pro by CBSSports.com and Pro Football Weekly & the Professional Football Writers of America.  He was also a second-team Associated Press All-Pro. 2013 marks Weddle’s third straight season as a captain of the defense.

Donald ButlerIndicative of the new leadership role Butler has embraced entering his fourth NFL season, the former third-round pick in 2010 Has played in 28 career games,  amassing 196 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, five sacks, two interceptions and three forced fumbles.  Butler enters his first season as a Chargers captain.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Darrell Stuckey – Stuckey will serve as captain of the unit for a second straight season.
